About Tromsø Whale Watching

A guide for your day with the whales

Tromsø Whale Watching is an independent guide for everyone who wants to see orcas and humpback whales from Tromsø. Here you will find when the season runs, which whales you will encounter, where the boats go, how the boats differ, what helps against seasickness, what to wear, and what a whale watching safari costs.

The site is available in German and five additional languages. It is written first in German.

How we research

Every number on our pages comes from a source that we link to at the bottom of the page: official bodies such as Visit Tromsø, the Norwegian Institute of Marine Research, UiT The Arctic University of Norway, or the climate data from NOAA. Information on tours, that is duration, languages, inclusions, and starting prices, is taken from the offers on GetYourGuide. If a source does not provide something, we do not write it.

Whales cannot be ordered. That is why we also tell you when the chances are low, for example outside the season.

How we make money
